Prince Andrew has given up his royal titles after new details about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein emerged. Meanwhile, Prince William, the future king, is said to have taken a strong stance against his uncle—and will enforce a new “ruthless” approach.
Days before sex trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre, who took her life in April, released her explosive memoir, Prince Andrew decided to give up his royal titles.
Andrew’s connections to the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein have been in the open for years, and in Giuffre’s memoir, she revealed new details about her sexual meetings with Andrew when she was not yet 18.
In a statement through the royal website, Andrew said, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”
“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me,” the disgraced prince added.
Prince William was reportedly involved in the talks with his uncle about his royal titles before Andrew decided to give them up. Meanwhile, reports suggest that William has made up his mind about Andrew, and will ban him from royal life – both public and private royal events – and his coronation once he becomes king.
Prince William “not satisfied” with Prince Andrew situation
Now, new details about William’s approach towards his disgraced uncle come to light. Speaking with Fox, British broadcaster and royal expert Helena Chard claims that Prince William is “not satisfied” with how the situation surrounding Prince Andrew is being handled, and will act as quickly as he can.
Moreover, she said that both William and his wife, Kate Middleton, are more determined than ever to ‘safeguard’ the Royal Family’s legacy.
“He is looking into the future with a solution-focused lens, he is far more ruthless than his father,” Chard said about William. “He always takes the harder line, he can see reputational damage escalating for the royal family and is reviewing a decisive way forward to combat further scandals.”
Chard added that Prince William played a significant role in getting Andrew ‘thrown out’ of the inner circle of the Royal Family. Moreover, royal expert Hilary Fordwich stated that the Prince and Prince of Wales will enforce a “zero-tolerance” policy.
“Prince William and Princess Catherine’s zero-tolerance blueprint is already transforming royal family dynamics,” Fordwich told Fox. “They’re proactive behind the scenes to specifically address scandals, enforcing a far better level of discipline, all intended to protect the monarchy’s future by excluding those who threaten its reputation in any way, shape or form.”
