Canadian actress Carrie Anne Fleming, known for her roles in cult TV shows, has died at the age of 51.
Jim Beaver, her co-star on Supernatural, confirmed to Variety that Fleming died from complications related to breast cancer.
Carrie Anne Fleming, the Canadian actress beloved for her roles in horror hits like iZombie and Supernatural, passed away on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia.
Now, a month later, her passing has been confirmed by her loved ones.
“She died peacefully with her loved ones by her side,” her representative said. “It was a great privilege to have known Carrie. She was a beautiful soul, inspiring, and above all, kind. She will be greatly missed.”
Born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Nova Scotia, Fleming later moved to Victoria, B.C., where she attended Mount Douglas Senior Secondary.
Did she date Adam Sandler?
Fleming’s parents split when she was just two, and she grew up with her mother. Her father, a former spring model, later became a pilot and yacht captain, living a nomadic life in Florida.
Perhaps it was also a legacy of her father’s ambitions that led her to move to Vancouver and begin working as a model. But it was as an actress that she would find her greatest success, and the dance and drama instructors who trained her recognized her talent early on.
“She had such a fresh face,” said Dama Hanks, Fleming’s teacher, in a 2012 interview with Times Colonist.
“She was as low-maintenance performer as a director could wish for,” added John Gray, creator of the CBS series Ghost Whisperer.

Fleming’s early roles included a recurring part on Viper and a small appearance in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore. Rumors circulated that she was dating Adam Sandler during filming.
“I wouldn’t call it dating. I brought him milkshakes and we hung out. He was really nice. It was neat to see him on the precipice. One time I arrived and he was on the phone with Chris Farley. He said, ‘I gotta go – my friend is here,’” Fleming said.
Carrie’s big break in horror came in 2005 when director Dario Argento cast her in Masters of Horror. She played the disfigured, cannibalistic woman in the episode “Jenifer,” cementing her reputation in the genre.
She later appeared in The Tooth Fairy and Bloodsuckers.
Many fans also knew her as Karen Singer on Supernatural, the apple-pie-baking wife of Bobby Singer, played by Jim Beaver in the CW’s hit series.
She later portrayed Candace Cameron Bure’s mother in the 2015 TV movie The Unauthorized Full House Story.
Heartfelt post
More recently, Fleming held a recurring role for five seasons as Candy Baker on iZombie. She was also a stage performer in British Columbia, appearing in productions of Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias, and Fame.
Jim Beaver, who played Fleming’s husband on Supernatural, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook earlier this month, recalling how the two “met cute” on set and quickly bonded over having daughters with the same names.
”She was a powerhouse of vitality and goodwill and amazingly good nature, with a rapturous laugh and an utterly adorable personality that didn’t seem to have an off switch,” Beaver, 75, wrote, reflecting on his on-screen wife and real-life friend.
Fleming is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose (Max).
