Nancy Guthrie’s neighbor shares chilling details about alleged kidnapping

Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, is missing and is being investigated as a crime. A report also suggests that blood has been found inside her house. Now, a neighbor of Nancy has spoken out, giving a chilling update on what investigators believe is a possible kidnapping.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show coanchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since Saturday, January 31.

A large search-and-rescue team has been trying to locate her without success in the area around her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona. On Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he “believes a crime has been committed.”

“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Nanoos said.

“We have an 84-year-old woman who went to bed Saturday night and came Sunday morning, she’s gone. We know, at least we believe, and I believe we know, she did not walk out of that home on her own.”

The police department is reviewing home security footage in the area. Moreover, they have taken what is believed to be “biological DNA type evidence.”

Authorities found blood inside Nancy Guthrie’s home, says soyrce

“She is really just as sharp as a tack,” Nanos told People. “And that too is concerning that here you have this lady who’s got all her wits about her, she knows what’s going on. So yeah, somebody came into that home, and I believe took her out there without her permission. It was against her will.”

Early Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement sources, reported that authorities found blood inside the home of Nancy Guthrie. Moreover, the source claimed there were signs of forced entry. It’s unclear whose blood was found inside the house

The Sheriff’s Department is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for images, videos, or information that leads to the arrest of the person or people involved in the 84-year-old’s disappearance.

“We’re doing all we can to try to locate her,” County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. “Every tool we have, we will use.”

While not much is known at the moment, a neighbor, Morgan Brown, who lives “a quarter of a mile up the street,” has weighed in on the “really strange circumstances surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Speaking with US Magazine, Brown explained that there were “a lot of dark vans with blacked out windows” outside the 84-year-old woman’s house.

The neighbor stated that those living in the surrounding area have been told to check their Ring cameras to see if anything out of the ordinary popped up.

Speaking about the circumstances, Brown stated, “If you step two feet off the road, you are basically in the thick of the cactus. It’s not gated at all.”

. “You just walk on the street and then there’s desert, so [they] thought she walked off into the desert or something, but she walks with a cane, so I can’t imagine why she would do that. It’s desert-y, scrubby mesquite trees and cactus and rocks everywhere,” Morgan Brown told US Magazine.

The neighbor later added, “There are quite a few retirees and people who have lived in the neighborhood for a while. You don’t hear of a lot of weird stuff in the neighborhood.”

“Horrible news”

Authorities said Nancy likely didn’t leave her house on her own, noting that she “couldnt walk 50 yards by herself.”

Brown told US that Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, came to mind in connection with the disappearance.

“I can’t imagine what someone would want with an 84-year-old woman,” Brown told US. “The thought comes to my mind is maybe they are trying to get to Savannah somehow, political or whatnot. It’s horrible news.”

Thoughts and prayers to the Guthrie family.
