Michael Bolton is battling brain cancer. The When a Man Loves a Woman singer was diagnosed with glioblastoma in December 2023. Today, the 73-year-old is cared for by his daughters, Isa, Holly, and Taryn. Now, a few days before Christmas, they have shared a major health update about their father.
Michael Bolton has been a superstar for decades. The singer, originally from New Haven, Connecticut, has won multiple Grammy Awards and sold more than 65 million albums worldwide.
However, sadly, in recent years, the How Am I Supposed To Live Without You? singer has battled a tough illness. After a troubling fall, alongside other unusual symptoms, Michael Bolton was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2023, which led to an emergency brain surgery.
He underwent a second surgery as well as radiation and chemotherapy, and canceled all of his touring. Now, Bolton is entirely focused on healing, and his family is there for him full-time. The star is still undergoing MRI scans every two months to monitor any signs of recurrence of the cancer.
Bolton resides in Westport, Connecticut, and his three daughters, Isa, Holly, and Taryn, live with him. They have become his primary caregivers.
Michael Bolton’s daughters share major health update as singer battles brain cancer
Speaking with AARP, Bolton himself stated that having his daughters at his side, supporting him full-time during this challenging period of surgeries and recovery, “means more than I could ever put into words.”
“My daughters have been constant in a way that grounds me,” he said. “On the harder days, they help me stay centered; on the lighter ones, they bring out the laughter that makes everything feel possible again. They remind me of who I am and what’s worth fighting for.”
“I’m feeling deeply grateful. This past year has tested me in ways I never imagined, but it’s also made me more aware of the moments that fill life with meaning: having meals with my family, hearing my grandkids laugh, stepping outside on a beautiful day and just taking it in,” he added.

Per AAPR, there are 63 million family caregivers in the US. Isa, Holly, and Taryn said they feel grateful to have the privilege of access to the best cancer centers and doctors to help them navigate Michael Bolton’s care. They reveal he has faced mobility and short-term memory loss.
To AARP, the daughters gave a major health update on their 70-year-old father.
“We’re proud and happy to update anyone who has been interested in following [our Dad’s] journey that he is in very good spirits and very good health,” shares Isa Bolton. “He has a lot of challenges, and we do have great days and some tough days, but in general, he’s very strong. His mobility and cognition have been terrific. So, we’re in a really good place right now.”
